Itinerary

Fly to Inverness and travel to Strathpeffer - Fly to Scotland, meet your friendly, experienced tour manager, and head further into the Highlands for your first hotel.
Travel to Gairloch via Dunvegan Castle - Passing the famous Cullin Hills, whose craggy peaks are often obscured by a veil of mist, you’ll head to Dunvegan Castle. Stronghold of the chiefs of MacLeod for nearly 800 years, and said to be the oldest continuously occupied 'family home' in Scotland, this is an amazing place steeped in history. It's a long but beautiful journey, and you'll have the chance to take a break at famous Eilean Donan Castle on the shores of Loch Duich (time-permitting). This afternoon, explore the island’s main town, Portree, with its charming harbour-side buildings and dramatic coastal scenery, before continuing to Gairloch.
Sail to Stornoway - Today, you’ll head to Ullapool to catch the ferry to Stornoway. After two and a half hours sailing, you’ll arrive in Stornoway and begin your exploration of Lewis and Harris' beautiful island capital. Check into the Cabarfeidh Hotel where dinner will be served this evening.
Included tour of Harris and Lewis - Today, you'll head to Harris, with its high mountains and rocky coastline to the east, and its miles of unspoilt beaches washed by Atlantic waves on the west. Your first stop will be Rodel Church, perhaps the grandest medieval building in the Western Isles. After time to explore the little port of Tarbet, you'll continue on a short walk from the road (over fairly rough ground) to the exceptionally well-preserved Carloway Broch, a circular dry-stone fortified tower dating back some 2000 years. As you pass through the island's rugged landscapes keep an eye out for the ancient standing stones which dot the surrounding countryside. Moving on, you'll visit the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village with its typical crofting buildings which give a fascinating insight into the lives and resourcefulness of the islands' inhabitants. Finish the day with a visit to the magnificent Calanais Stones, said to be over 5,000 years old, where you'll learn about the history and mysticism of these ancient monoliths. The site's visitor centre is currently under renovation and is scheduled to be reopened in June 2026.
Day at leisure - Enjoy a leisurely morning, with breakfast at your hotel, ahead of a full day under your own steam to further explore the picturesque isles of Lewis and Harris. For a more structured day, why not head into the heart of charming Stornoway for a fascinating few hours' exploration, or embrace Hebridean creativity with a visit to the An Lanntair Art Centre? You can also find a number of delightful coastal walks nearby which are perfect for a more relaxing day's activity. However you choose to spend your day, reconvene this at the hotel for dinner.
Included visit to the Butt of Lewis and travel to Strathpeffer - This morning, you'll head to the Butt of Lewis, at the northern tip of Lewis, the final highlight of your stay in the Hebrides. "Set sail", in the early afternoon, for the two-hour 30-minute crossing to Ullapool then follow a wonderfully scenic route through Wester Ross into the Highlands for your final hotel.
Fly home - Journey back to the airport, this morning, to catch your flight home.

Introduction
You'll be staying in a series of well-located hotels, all of which will be of a three-star standard. All the bedrooms in all hotels offer private facilities, TV and tea/coffee-making facilities.

The Highland Hotel, Strathpeffer (nights 1)
Housed in an original Victorian hotel, built in Scottish Baronial style, this property promises a sophisticated space to unwind in at the start and end of your Highland journey. The property offers a stylish restaurant and bar, serving locally inspired dishes, and boasts unobstructed views of the idyllic Highland countryside.

Gairloch Hotel & Old Inn, Gairloch (night 2)
Occupying a serene position on the outskirts of Gairloch only a short distance from the seafront, this hotel offers a relaxing retreat within easy reach of the village’s finest attractions. The hotel features a cosy lounge and bar area as well as free Wi-Fi throughout, and is a five-minute walk from its sister hotel, The Old Inn, which serves modern British cuisine and fresh seafood dishes from its onsite restaurant. Guestrooms are comfortably furnished and include TVs and ensuite bathrooms. Please note: due to the level of disabled access, those with limited mobility will stay at The Old Inn instead (meals will also be served here).

Cabarfeidh Hotel, Stornoway (nights 3-5)
Offering spacious, comfortable accommodation, the hotel prides itself on the warmth of its welcome and its high standards of service. Located on the outskirts of the town, it overlooks the grounds of historic Lews Castle and the town's 18-hole golf course.

Ben Wyvis Hotel, Strathpeffer (night 6)
Surrounded by five acres of lush mountain woodland, this hotel places guests right at the heart of the charming Victorian spa town, Strathpeffer, and is the perfect base from which to explore the Scottish Highlands. The hotel offers traditional Scottish fare at its Jacobite Restaurant and also features cosy bar and lounge areas with original Victorian furnishings. Should circumstances require, we reserve the right to accommodate you in conveniently located, alternative hotels of a similar standard.

Hotel transfer times

The transfer time to your first hotel and from your last hotel is approximately one hour from Inverness airport.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. For this tour specifically, it is important to note: - Due to the locations visited, anyone with limited mobility may struggle to experience the itinerary to its full. - Historic sites and castles are not well equipped for those with mobility considerations as they are often hundreds of years old - should you have walking difficulties, getting around monuments and attractions may be harder and, in some cases, impossible. If you have any queries, please do contact us prior to travel.

Combining hotel transfers

We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Itinerary changes

Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.

Sunday closing

Please note that most local businesses in the Outer Hebrides will be closed on Sundays.

Airport development fees

An Airport Development Fee has been introduced at a few UK Airports. You will be required to pay this charge at the following airports prior to checking in for your flight: Blackpool, Durham Tees Valley, Newquay and Norwich. The amount varies from airport to airport, but it is generally between GBP5 and GBP10 per person. Please visit the airport's website for further information.

Calanais Stones excursion replacement (1 September 2024 onwards)

From the 1st of September onwards, the Calanais Stones visitor centre is closed for renovation, so the site will be closed to the general public. As a replacement to the included visit to the Calanais Stones, there will be a visit to Lews Castle, with its exciting Museum nan Eilean.
