Home to over 200 giant pandas (a vulnerable species heavily reliant on conservation efforts for its survival), a small number of red pandas, and a small selection of other endangered species endemic to China, this government-funded non-profit conservation centre plays an important role in preserving giant pandas as a species. While you’re here, you’ll have the chance to learn more about the important work the Chengdu Research Base is doing, to observe these magical mammals in enclosures that near-mirror their natural habitat, and to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
